Midland Seventh-day Adventist Church

Details

Adventist mission work in Midland began in the 1930’s. By 1938, a congregation had been organized and a church building made of adobe brick, asphalt and covered in white cement was completed. Today, The Midland Seventh-day Adventist Church is a lively congregation that enjoys ministering to others. Throughout the year, the members enjoy teaching and studying God’s word and they are active in the church’s food pantry program. The church also hosts and participates in several cultural diversity events throughout the year such as the African Convocation and an International Sabbath event.

Pastor

Mabio Gomes

[email protected]

Pastor Gomes gave his life to Jesus at the age of twenty. In the following years, he gave up family, work, and friends to canvass neighborhoods in Brazil. From door to door, he prayed, shared literature and gave Bible studies to people. Through his experiences, God showed Pastor Gomes that there are no limits to His blessings. After arriving in the U.S., Pastor Gomes continued to work in ministry. In 2013, he received a B.A. in Theology from Southwestern Adventist University. In 2015, he came to the Texico Conference and pastored the Amarillo Spanish district. After pastoring there for three years, Pastor Gomes returned to school and received his Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University in 2020.

Pastor Gomes and his wife Juscileide are blessed to be the parents of three daughters; Sarah, Kate, and Abby. His children have showed him the different facets of love and have taught him God’s love toward us. Pastor Gomes loves the promises found in the Bible and understands that God’s work in him is not finished. He gladly accepts the invitation from Jesus when He says “come to me” (Matthew 11:28) and receive comfort.
