Texico Welcomes Pastor Gabriel Perea as Ministerial Director

The Texico Conference is pleased to welcome Pastor Gabriel Perea as Ministerial Director and Volunteer Lay Pastor Coordinator, beginning October 1, 2026. Pastor Perea comes to Texico from Southwestern Adventist University, where he has served as Associate Professor of Religion and Theology. With a heart for ministry, a passion for mentorship, and a deep commitment to encouraging and equipping others for service, we are grateful to welcome him to the Texico family.

In his role as Ministerial Director, Pastor Perea will provide spiritual care, encouragement, mentorship, and support to those who serve throughout the Texico Conference. While ministerial directors traditionally have a special responsibility to care for and support pastors, Pastor Perea’s ministry will extend to all Texico Conference employees—including pastors, teachers, and office staff. He will serve as a trusted source of pastoral care, prayer, encouragement, and spiritual support as our employees carry out their individual callings and our shared mission.

Pastor Perea brings a strong background in pastoral ministry, theological education, evangelism, and mentorship. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern Adventist University and a Master of Divinity from Andrews University. At Southwestern Adventist University, he has invested in preparing and mentoring future pastors and ministry leaders through both classroom instruction and hands-on ministry experiences.

His commitment to mentorship and practical ministry has been especially evident through his leadership of Southwestern’s Field School of Evangelism, where theology students combine classroom preparation with hands-on ministry and evangelism. He has also served as Program Supervisor for SWAU’s SWORD Bible Worker Certification Program, helping equip individuals for evangelism, outreach, discipleship, local church ministry, and church planting.

Pastor Perea is also no stranger to Texico. In 2024, he led Southwestern’s Field School of Evangelism in partnership with the Texico Conference and local congregations in the Albuquerque area, bringing students, pastors, church members, and Conference leadership together for evangelism, mentorship, and ministry. More recently, Pastor Perea has continued to invest in the Texico family, serving as an integral part of our 2026 Equipping Texico training series and participating in our 2026 Texico Convocation. Through these opportunities, many across our Conference have already experienced his passion for ministry, spiritual encouragement, and equipping others for service. His transition into this new role represents a continuation of a ministry relationship that has already been a blessing to Texico.

In addition to his ministry to Conference employees, Pastor Perea will provide leadership and support for Texico’s Volunteer Lay Pastor ministry, helping equip and encourage those who faithfully serve our congregations in this important area of ministry.

As Pastor Perea begins this new chapter, we look forward to the spiritual care, experience, and encouragement he will bring to our Conference. Our prayer is that his ministry will strengthen those who serve throughout our territory and help foster a culture in which our employees feel spiritually supported, encouraged, and equipped as they continue the work God has entrusted to them.

Please join us in welcoming Pastor Perea and his family to the Texico Conference and in keeping them in prayer as they begin this new chapter of ministry.

Welcome to Texico, Pastor Perea!
