United in Mission: Texico Pastors and Teachers Come Together to Inspire and Equip
On April 7, the Texico Conference Department of Education brought together administrators, pastors, and educators for a special in-service training under the theme: “Equipped to Serve– Inspiring and Strengthening Our Mission Together!” The purpose was clear: to foster deeper collaboration between two essential ministries—education and pastoral leadership—and to strengthen the shared mission of transforming lives for eternity.
The message echoed throughout the event: when pastors and teachers work side by side, the impact of their ministry multiplies. The training provided a valuable time to connect, learn, and grow as a team, reminding participants that both students and congregations thrive when church and school unite in purpose.
Special guest speaker Armando Miranda, a long-time international church leader and former Vice President of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, spoke passionately about the role of Adventist education in the mission of the church. He emphasized that both pastors and teachers are vital in leading young hearts to Christ and urged pastors to make Adventist education a visible and active priority in their congregations. With wisdom and encouragement, Miranda challenged attendees to keep moving forward in faith, to serve with purpose, and to never lose sight of the eternal goal—winning hearts for God’s kingdom.
A highlight of the event was the special commissioning service, led by Texico Conference President Lee-Roy Chacon and Executive Secretary Antonio Cano. Modeled after a pastoral ordination, the ceremony recognized two outstanding educators—Priscilla Lynn Razon and Melanie Cano—for their faithful service and deep commitment to the ministry of Adventist education.
Priscilla Lynn Razon, a seasoned educator with over 16 years in the field, currently serves as the Director of an Early Childhood Center and Coordinator of Early Childhood Centers across the conference. Melanie Cano, an educator with 18 years of teaching experience, is known for creating a Christ-centered classroom where academic excellence and spiritual growth go hand in hand.
Both President Chacon and Executive Secretary Cano expressed their deep appreciation for the dedicated service of the two recognized teachers and for the hard work of all the teachers and pastors present. They reminded attendees that God works in us, through us, and even in spite of us when we’re willing to serve with humility and purpose. Their words served as a powerful reminder that the mission of the church is not carried alone—it’s a shared journey that requires unity, faith, and mutual support.
The event was not only a time of recognition and training but a meaningful starting point in reaffirming Texico’s mission of working together. United in Christ and dedicated to shaping the next generation. Many of the Texico pastors and educators shared that they left feeling inspired to serve with renewed passion.
