Visitor Finds More Than Information
One visitor’s unexpected encounter reminds us that God is always at work before we even realize it.
On July 11, I witnessed a beautiful reminder of why our churches exist.
A man visited one of our churches for the first time after driving past it for years and receiving several invitations to attend. When someone asked why he had come, he simply replied, “I came to get information.” A deacon welcomed him, chose to sit beside him and opened the Bible with him, discussing the story of Elijah before the worship service began.
As I began preaching, to the visitor’s astonishment, I referenced that same passage he had just studied with the deacon. Then a slide appeared on the screen that read, “We’ll settle for information when God is offering revelation.”
The visitor suddenly exclaimed, “I didn’t come for information. I came to meet Jesus!” It was a powerful moment that reminded me how God can weave together a simple conversation, His Word and a worship service to touch a searching heart.
